Terms

Short,and in plain words

This is a small application from one person. These terms are correspondingly small, and nothing in them is written to be skimmed past.

01

What you may do

HuddleOwl is free to download and use for personal use and for your own professional work, on as many machines as you personally use, permanently. There is no seat count, no meeting cap and no expiry.

02

What you may not do

  • Redistribute, resell or rehost the installers, or charge anyone for access to them.
  • Rebrand the application or present it as your own product.
  • Remove or alter the third-party notices that ship with it.

If you want to deploy HuddleOwl across an organisation, that is a conversation rather than a refusal. Ask.

03

The app is provided as is

There is no warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. Coaching cues and scores are a model's opinion about a conversation, and are wrong sometimes.

Do not treat the output as a system of record, a legal record, or a performance assessment of anybody. It is a tool for the person who was on the call to get better at the next one.

04

Recording is your responsibility

HuddleOwl records audio on your machine at your instruction. Consent and recording law vary by country, and by state or province within several of them, and following the law where you and the other participants are is yours to do.

Stealth mode hides the coaching overlay from your screen share so the person you are talking to does not watch you being coached. It does not hide that a recording is happening, and it is not intended to.

05

Your data, and ours

Your meetings live in a folder on your own disk. We do not receive them and there is no server of ours for them to be received by. If you configure a cloud model, your transcript goes to that provider under their terms, using your key, directly from your machine. The privacy page covers this in full.

06

Third-party components

HuddleOwl is built on other people's work, nearly all of it under permissive licences. Every component, its licence and its copyright holder are listed in the third-party notices that ship with the installers and are published in the downloads repository. Those components remain under their own licences, which these terms do not alter.

07

Changes

These terms may change for future versions. The version you have keeps the terms it was released under. Current version 0.1.9.
